In this episode Guy, Jasper and Angus investigate the idea of Friction in wargames rules.
Years ago the traditional I go you go game prevailed, but in the last twenty years rules have started to introduce mechanisms to break up game place. The renowned 19th century military thinker Clausewitz is one of the first to discuss ideas of the unexpected in his book On War.
“In war more than anywhere else things do not turn out as we expect.”
In modern military parlance we call this Friction.
We’re joined by Rich Clarke (Too Fat Lardies) and historian Murray Dahm.
