A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of being in Chicago for work, I love the city, it is never quite as hectic as New York and I find there is more to see than LA.
I was only going to be in town for three days so I was hoping to get a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry to see U-505, thankfully Saturday I finished up in the office by lunch and hopped in a cab to the museum for the afternoon. Very disappointedly when I arrived the submarine tour was fully booked so I only got to see the outside and the excellent display that goes with it.
My chosen audio book for the flight was the mammoth Second World War by Winston Churchill (it truly is mammoth!), so I never checked what podcasts I had with me. If I had bother to I would have discovered this excellent episode from the Pritzker Military Library looking at U-505!
I took a few terrible photos (you’ll find much better ones online) of both U505 and one of the last remaining Stuka diver bombers!
